The Individualized Education Program (IEP) is the cornerstone of the special education process for each individual student. The course will teach participants how to plan, develop, write, and implement measurable IEP objectives that meet the standards of regulating agencies. It will assist participants in how to strategically plan IEP documents that is far-reaching in its impact. It will expose participants to the understanding of what the laws say and demands of IEP processes and procedures; and the keys to IEP success such as: 1.) Build Your Portfolio, 2.) Understand Evaluations and 3.) Know Available Programs. Parents will gain a working knowledge of special education laws, including their roles in the development of an appropriate education program (IEP) and how to be an effective partner with the school team in the process. Parents will learn how to read their child’s IEP, understand the sections, and learn where to find recommendations and important information. Participants will gain an understanding of the IEP and Transition process as well as obtain resources for writing and implementing IEP. The course is open to parents, teachers, social workers, and advocates.
